5 Underrated Disney Movies I Love (5 Fandom Friday)

Today’s post are my five favorite underrated Disney movies. While two of these are two of my most favorite I tried to really stick to the theme of “underrate” (IE not likely a “vaulted” treasure one). Let’s get down to business…well, you know the rest.

Wreck-It Ralph

I saw this movie in theaters four—thats' right, FOUR—times! I LOVE Wreck-It Ralph it is one of my favorite Disney movies. I made my siblings and friends and husband (then boyfriend) see it in the subsequent viewings. I enjoyed it so much on the big screen. As an “old gamer” it spoke to me I think (I won’t claim it did for all, but it did for me). I loved the Sugar Rush game and that Zangief and M. Bison of Street Fighter were in a self help group with Ralph. I really do love this movie.

While I haven’t been able to get into the stage musical version I will NEVER deny my love of the original movie! Christian Bale is a forever crush because of this, and Seize the Day is my favorite song from this classic! My friend Ashley got me re-hooked onto the movie back in 2001 when it was re-released on DVD. It really is a great musical! And the dancing and 90’s heart-throbs will make you giggle as it is chock full of them.

The Emperor’s New Groove

Do I need to explain the brilliance of this comedy?!?! Eartha Kitt! David Spade! It’s a great ensemble! It’s so dang quotable and makes me “LOL,”—“IRL!” If you haven’t seen this gem: STOP watching whatever you’re watching and check it out!

The Parent Trap (1961)

Specifically the Hayley Mills one! I love this classic! I do love the Lindsey Lohan one as well (she was brilliant in that one too). But the Hayley Mills one was always a treat to see on “free preview week" on the then premium Disney channel. I always found then (in the early 90’s) that the special effects and Mills’ acting held up the movie really well. If you haven’t seen this version make sure to do so!

Meet the Deedles

I saw this movie because of two reasons: 1). Paul Walker who was a certified hottie, 2). the soundtrack was AMAZING! Ska and swing wins and definitely a time capsule of 1998 (which is when the movie came out). Also I loved national parks, and surfing and this movie combined those with the ever-so-dreamy Paul Walker (in case, you know, I hadn’t mentioned that yet lol). The movie is probably one of the worst ever made but I still enjoy the heck out of it. It’s so cheesy! I love it! It also paved the way for what would be my #6 movie: Johnny Tsunami…but maybe I’ll have to make “TV Movie’s I Love” list sometime.
