Philip J. Fry (Futurama) Workout Cosplay

Last week I featured one of my favorite robots, so, I thought today's Workout Cosplay should feature his favorite human:

FryPhilipJ.WorkCos.jpg

Fry is old, old, man who isn't actually old in physical age, but in years! Because of this, I figured I'd make two playlists! This first features a normal playlist that was inspired by him:

Let the nostalgia consume you!

Who is your favorite Futurama character?

Also, if there's a character you would like to see in a Workout Cosplay, let me know in the comments, or, on twitter!

Buy All the Things Thursday!

Welcome to another addition of Take All The Things Thursdays! I'm your hostess with the mostest: Joie Fatale!
Here I will feature some things I wish I had more disposable income to buy. Ready? Let's get started!

This Hook shirt. Cause dude: Hook is HOT! Seriously I am a Captain Swan (I think this is the name) shipper!
via
Also from the Hot Topic Realm this adorable Ariel Badge holder! I use these things, so may as well get a cute one, right? **adds to cart**
via
And I love these House Shoes/Slippers that are little K-9s!
via
This Catbug stuffed animal is too adorable! And I like the shape, since I can use it as a pillow!

via
And finally, this sweatshirt is in reference to my FAVORITE series...EVER!!! Thursday Next by Jasper Fforde (the series is Thrusday Next, each book has a different title). I Want this so bad! And it is so Book Pimp!!!
via

I'm curious: Have any of you read any of Jasper Fforde's works?
Are there any items you're super wanting this week?

Wednesday Workout Cosplay: Marceline the Vampire Queen

My favorite character from Adventure Time will be today's Workout Cosplay character.

Marceline: The Vampire Queen!

Adventure Time is such a zany show, and Marceline is my FAVORITE character (followed very closely by Lumpy Space Princess). She also voiced by Olivia Olsen, whom you may remember from Love Actually (one of my favorite Christmas movies) as the little girl who sings "All I Want for Christmas (Is You)." Also. Marceline sings and has an alto voice...so for me, her little songs and ditties in AT are songs I can actually sing a-long to!

Also...that AX! Like...litteral, ax+bass= the most awesome of animated guitars since...IDK what! Seriously...Marceline...you are my vampire queen!! And since we're talking about the ax, here's your playlist!

I decided that if Marceline particiated in a team sport (I've only seen seasons 1 and 2...lemme know if she's played anything else) it would be a something, fun, but would allow for mischief, and some aggression.
And of course, something you could play air-bass and air-guitar with (**raises hand** I'm so guilty of this)!

Enter, Field Hockey Marceline cosplay!

Marceline the Vampire Queen

1). Under Armour Red Sonic Print Shirt- This shirt boasts the ability to beat the heat from this springs beating sun--you know, something vampires like to avoid--and has the ability wick away sweat and fight, well, odor. Also I think the print is really flashy!
2). Marceline Necklace - While I don't often workout with jewelry the only thing I can really ever handle is a necklace (I even had a "lucky" necklace I hid in my suit for water polo sometimes). And This neckalce is too adorable not to include!
3). Basic Blue Team skirt- While field hockey does allow for shorts (I mean, this IS the 21st century eh?) I chose the skirt for this as when I managed, our team had this universally flattering A-line kilt for the uniform and we had ladies of ALL sizes, and all the girls looked FANTASTIC...and well, I wanted to join the team so I could get one of these skirts...but I was too late.
4). Nike Compression Shorts - And while I like the skirt, I do like to rock that late-80s/early-90s look whenever possible and these fun shorts would be great to layer under the skirt, and would bring in the signature grey of Marceline!
5). Nike Storage Band - I think I'm in love with this thing, so don't be surprised if you see it again! This thing is pocket that you can wear around your wrist like a sweatband. It can hold keys, chapstick, a small snack...or if you're on an all red diet, you can sip at the red dye! ;)
6). Brine Vintage Field Hockey Stick - Like Marceline's sweet ax, this beautiful red hockey stick is going to slay the opposition, and totally provide some fun pretend air bass/guitar playing (don't judge me).
7). Adidas Women's adiZero Cleats- Playing on a field you could be prone to some serious slipping and sliding on the grass, so cleats are completely necessary in games such as Proper Football and Field Hockey. This pair seemed like a really cool fit!
8). CranBerry Glitter Practice Ball - to practice for this sport a ball is required. And this one is super cute and sparkly! You know, adding a little glam to the ultra rockin' Marceline!
9). Shock Doctor Mouth-guard - Marceline would need to protect those fangs, and you should protect your chompers as well! With sticks and a hard-as-a-puck ball flying around the field, a mouth-guard is a necessary piece of equipment. But this guard is the coolest since it's flavored as Fruit Punch--the quintessential "red" flavor!

And (since I'm in a Field Hockey mood) some fundamental drill sets for this sport.

That's this week's workout cosplay PLEASE be sure to check out the Ice King cosplay debuting today on PonyChops!!!

Sharing Some Smile-age!

Happy Monday Toonsters!
This weekend was such a whirlwind for me, and while the tenor and I accomplished some long overdue goals, I am exhausted.
So, I'll share some you tube vids that I think you need to watch.

First is this Jimmy Fallon, The Roots with Idina Menzel version of Let It Go. The Tenor and I have a major crush on Idina...she's amazing! Also: Paul Rudd= A-MA-ZING!

Next, I'm so ready for April 19th, it's not even funny! Sophie put this trailer up, and I think it's about time I did too! I cannot WAIT for season 2 of Orphan Black to start!!! If you haven't seen season 1, Amazon Prime has it streaming now!

But before April 19th happens...there is April 6th!

The next season of Game of Thrones starts this Sunday and though I don't have HBO, I have Amazon Prime! And I will get to see this season!!!

If you watch the show, and enjoy Mean Girls, The Breakfast Club and other classic teen flicks--and love the sh*t out of dragons!--check out this AWESOME parody known as School of Thrones:

Episode 1: Prom Night is Coming

Episode 2: Sexposition

Episode 3: Targaryen Burn

I am so amped for this month! Are you? Do you watch any of these shows?!

Wednesday Workout Cosplay: Annie from Being Human

Ok, small confession:
I LOVE Being Human! I love both the US and UK versions. The UK version I watched first, and I like their werewolf concept better, and **sigh**the vampire Mitchell (whom you may know as Kili in The Hobbit films).

But we're here to talk about the UK's Annie!

via I

One of my goals last week--and all year for that matter, was to try 3 new exercises. One of those is yoga. I've been having a lot of work and SDCC related stress. Luckily the latter is no longer an issue (queue fan fare!). I have a yoga DVD that is supposed to help calm your nerves, and so for that reason, I thought I'd focus on a yoga inspired outfit via this ghost girlie!

Let's start with that cozy-of-coziest sweaters shall we? This sweater I actually saw at my local Target, And it looks so comfy! Perfect for bundling up and keeping yourself warm after a hot yoga session and heading out into the cold!
via

While Annie seems to prefer the quintessential white tank, I veered to a more athletically friendly top (in case one wants to switch things up, and go running?).

This tank has some cool pixelated print too, so, win-win-win!

via
Additionally, yoga pants...so, here's the thing: I looked for some, but for some reason, I couldn't find a single pair I liked, that would also transition to a cardio based workout. And then I remembered: ZUMBA! And I found these little leggings and they looked pretty comfy too!

via
If you do some yoga, and want to keep those toes warm, try these gripped toe socks:
via

And after yoga, or swim, or an activity you want to keep comfy and warm. I'm not usually a fan of shoes like this, except to keep warm. But to each her own eh? Also, these remind me a little of Annie's boots, but a post-Workout friendly version!
via

And in case you want to do some Zumba, running, or weights:

Like I said stress reduction yoga! And you know what I like about YouTube? FREE exercise videos! It's also, a good cool down stretch!

Also! Check out this video inspired by Robsen Green who plays the werewolf McNair!

I will leave you now with a ghostly-HIIT/ moderate-jog inspired playlist:

Your First Time...

What is/was your first FANDOM memory?
My first memory is watching Star Wars with my family.
A little bit of history:

My dad grew up during the 60's, and collected a lot of comics. He even had a Spider-Man number one!

That is until his mom's--my Big Mama's--house caught fire. All the comics were gone, but thank God she made it out!

He also watched the old Batman series with Adam West. He loved the adventures, the utility belt, and of course the boss-est car to ever roam the earth: the Batmobile!

Later, he saw the premiere of Star Trek! He like many people  loved the stories! The writing spoke to, and continues to speak to people. Also, he loved Roddenberry and crew's vision of the future which included ALL people of all backgrounds! AND a future where it wasn't just us Earthlings, but some aliens as well.

In his late 20's Star Wars A New Hope came out. Light sabers, space saga, and DARTH-frakking-VADER! How could he not like it? and then, in 1980, The Empire Strikes Back came out, and we met Lando Calrissian, Jedi Master Yoda, saw the ice planet Hoth, and learned one of the greatest shockers of all time:

And with the Return of the Jedi helped signal a new era for my dad: fatherhood! Via your's truly!

With this change my father became a Jedi master in his own right and we--my siblings and I--his young padawans.

Which comes down to me.

Growing up, I know we watched Star Trek, and my dad got us into action figures pretty early on. And the old Batman show?

KUSI 9/51 used to play it all the time (I've kept my old KUSI Kids Club Card all these years). We even have a VHS tape full of episodes including Black Widow (not the Marvel assassin, but an older bank robber). Like my dad, I loved the Batmobile and wanted my own utility belt.

My dad would watch these shows with us, and my mom would watch us all play together. We all had
I'll admit, I'm blessed to have parents that let us play cool games, and read awesome books, rather than being the superstitious kind.

But Star Wars? I LOVED Star Wars!!! I wanted a light saber more than anything in the world. And I definitely wanted to be able to wield the force. The Millenium Falcon; Han Solo; Leia; Luke; Yoda; Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi!

To me, Star Wars was brilliant because it can be enjoyed at any age. Leia was a smart diplomat with a warrior streak. Luke was a sincere kid trying to make his way; Han was the quintessential bad boy with a heart of gold! It was awesome! I liked how at the end of the trilogy Vader redeemed himself and did the right thing in the end and gets to be with Obi-Wan and Yoda (sorry, but I do have the original theatrical versions, and I prefer it...can't help it).

To go back to the opening question:
What is/was your first FANDOM memory?
Was it a video game? The star who played your favorite hero? Something you watched with one of your favorite people?

Please share in the comments! And if you want to write, or have written a post, share a bit about it AND link to your post in the comment box yo'! I would love to read it!

Christmas Special #2 - The Year Without a Santa Claus

At number 2, we have The Year Without a Santa Claus, and, the biggest evidence of my adoration of stop motion. Why is it evidence? Because while I like plenty of Christmas specials (not just the one’s listed in these posts), this is the second highest ranking one. And to be honest, I can see where this isn’t the best of all Christmas specials. But dangit, I love it. Mickey Rooney is the voice of Santa (PERFECT!) and Shirley Booth voices the narrator, who is none other than the most under-rated character, Mrs. Claus (after Krampus) Mrs. Claus tries to motivate a sick, tired, and under-appreciated Santa into going back out there, and not just giving out toys, but, spreading Christmas cheer! Mrs. Claus sends the number one elf Jingle, and his bumbling partner/brother/homeboy (not sure…) Jangle out into the world on the back of the reindeer Vixen who is just a baby at this point in time (apparently this story predates Rudolph) in search of Christmas spirit. On their way out, they fly through the major turf-wars going on between the brothers, Heat Miser and Snow Miser.

Heat Miser blinds Vixen, and Jingle and Jangle drop off in Southtown, USA, where it doesn’t snow (let’s just call this place: San Diego). In Southtown, nobody, seems to believe in Santa Claus, including young Ignacious “Iggy” Thistlewhite (cool name!). Iggy and his school yard chums confirm the North Pole’s worst fears about people and their disbelief. Jingle and Jangle lose Vixen, and Santa ends up asking Iggy and his parents for help, where we learn’s Iggy’s ‘rents confess to being believers in Santa.

After their song/discussion about Santa, Iggy tells the undercover Santa that Vixen has been taken to the pound, where, Santa hops on the reindeer he rode in on, and flies to the pound, revealing his true self. Santa springs Vixen, and flies the sick little deer back to the North Pole—but he doesn’t get a chance to tell the elves he has done so already. Jingle, Jangle and Iggy promised Southtown’s mayor snow in exchange for Vixen’s release. Unfortunately, the elves don’t really have a way of delivering this promise, and are unsure of how to proceed. They end up calling Mrs. Claus who has an idea. She takes them all to the palace of the Snow Miser. Snow has an amazing entrance as seen here:

Mrs. Claus asks for help in bringing snow to Southtown, and upon hearing the name of the town in question, Snow flatly refuses as San Diego Southtown is strictly the turf of Snow’s step-brother Heat Miser, and that they will need to talk to him to make that happen. Sooooo it’s off to Heat Miser’s Volcanic dominion where he too has a snazzy intro:

Heat says he would be willing to compromise for Southtown to have snow if he can bring Spring to the North Pole. However neither Snow, nor Heat, are willing to budge and compromise. And so Mrs. C goes straight to their boss; their mother: Mother Nature! Mother Nature doesn’t have time for the Miser’s crap, and orders her sons to work together, and work it out. So there will be snow and summer in their respective places. Meanwhile, Santa returns to the North Pole, and sees that Mrs. Claus went to pick up the elves. Upon their return, Mrs. Claus and the elves show Santa that he was given a vacation.

This actually leads into one of my favorite scenes (after the miser songs of course) where all the kids of the world come running on screen and wrap gifts to send to Santa. I enjoy that there are children from all over the world.

After receiving the letters and gifts from the children, Santa is touched, and decides he doesn’t need a vacation, but would rather bring joy and happiness to those that adore him.

This movie became my go to Christmas movie in high school. I remember that this is when they were selling bobble heads and ornaments for it, whereas before, I could only ever find Rudolph items. I’ll admit, a HUGE portion of my love for this film is in the misers. The misers are so cool and their banter just plain old makes me smile. I also like that the movie addresses that even the happiest of people can have times when they are down, and that sometimes we put too much pressure on them. But to counter those bits, there are people that do appreciate us, and what we do. Have you seen this? Any guesses as to what number one will be? What’s your favorite stop motion feature (Christmas or not)?

Check out titles 3-10:

New Netflix Updates!!!

So there are more shows/episodes on Netflix that I am SUPER stoked about! I can't wait to waste some time see them all!!! LOL!

First, FINALLY Dexter is back on Netflix (or at least back to being advertised in my queue)!
I can't wait to complete this series.
Dexter (2006) Poster

Next, is Arrow.
I sadly am NOT (thus far) a fan of Stephen Amell.
But, John Barrowman, Alex Kingston, Summer Glau, Tahmoh Penikett all make appearances. And the rest of the cast ain't so bad. So, I think I just need to swallow my pride, and do this!!! (Also...HUNTRESS!!!)
Arrow (2012) Poster

New episodes of Nikita as well. I was apprehensive about this show, but I got to quickly snap a pic with Maggie Q this year at Comic Con, and even though she was in a rush to a party, she took the time to ALSO take a picture with my brother who has missed the last 4 cons (09, 10, 11, 12) while he was serving our country. She is genuinely pretty!! And she is such a bad-ass on the show!

Nikita (2010) Poster

Just in time for the upcoming ChrimboHols:
NATIONAL LAMPOON'S CHRISTMAS VACATION!!! I consider November 20 the "OK for Christmas" time. I do think AFTER Thanksgiving is better, but in our consumer driven lives, I think there is another, better time that isn't THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN. Compromise.

Christmas Vacation (1989) Poster

Last, but NOT least, the show I am most HAPPY to see: Chuck.
I wish I could fully articulate my sincerest love for this show. But, I can't, so, I shan't.
It's just GREAT. That's all I have. Sorry.

Chuck (2007) Poster
So, that's it for now!
